We are also committed to addressing the challenges of the hospitality industry, making the sector appealing to even more young people, and developing the leaders that are already in high demand.

We are training the hotel employees of the future
Although personality is important, professionalism is of course crucial in a company like ours and for the industry as a whole. That’s why we also take responsibility for training the hotel employees of the future: Of the 80 full-time employees at Hindsgavl Slot today, 11 are apprentices, which is three times more than expected for a company of our size. Several of these students have chosen the industry after having tried their hand at it here with us.
We have both apprentices from Denmark and international trainees from Vietnam. The latter is a constructive way to meet a greater demand for chef trainees than we can provide from Denmark – a growing challenge in the hospitality industry in recent years. Our Vietnamese trainees complete their 18-month internship with us as the final part of their Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, and they are fully integrated into the team, working alongside their Danish colleagues on equal terms. We accommodate them in good housing in Middelfart and regularly check that they have settled in well and have what they need. It’s very important to us that these employees also feel comfortable and thrive at Hindsgavl Slot.
In addition, we regularly offer training to employees who show potential – to the great benefit of both the organisation and the individual employee. This can be within their current area of expertise, as well as in areas such as management, communication, administration or similar.

Talent programme in leadership
Developing our employees’ talents benefits the employees, the guests, and the organisation. That’s why we have created an internal leadership development programme consisting of six modules, designed to enhance employee satisfaction and optimise collaboration across departments.
During the programme, participants explore their talents and skills in depth through personality tests and talent analysis. At the same time, they are equipped to succeed as leaders with key competencies in conflict management, finance, sustainability, and leadership.
The programme provides a total of 15 ECTS points and is examined through Erhvervsakademi Dania.
Satisfaction is everything
At Hindsgavl Slot, we prioritise well-being. In our effort to measure employee satisfaction and act quickly on the results, we launched our first employee satisfaction survey in February 2024, which will now become a regular part of our annual cycle. This survey is an important tool for our managers, helping them ensure that Hindsgavl Slot remains a workplace where everyone thrives and feels valued. The results of this first survey revealed an impressive average satisfaction score of over 4 out of 5 possible points. We are extremely proud of that!
This satisfaction is backed up by internal statistics showing that sickness absence among staff at Hindsgavl Slot is over 30% lower than the industry average. We see this as a clear confirmation that our efforts to create a healthy and inclusive workplace are paying off.
Inclusion and diversity
Hindsgavl Slot is an inclusive and diverse workplace with fair conditions, where we come together to make the difference for each other and our guests that creates the magic. In our experience, it is easier to achieve great things together when all employees are directly employed by us, which is why we do not outsource. Our Vietnamese trainees are employed through partnerships with the local 3F union and professional agencies that facilitate the hiring of foreign labour.
In close and productive collaboration with Middelfart Municipality’s Job Centre, we have also helped many people discover new job opportunities. This includes individuals who, for various reasons, have faced difficulties, as well as foreign residents who need a job to learn the language and move forward in their careers.
