Environmental policy
Hindsgavl Castle is committed to protecting and sustaining the environment by focusing on reducing our carbon footprint and increasing sustainability in all aspects of our operations. We recognise the obligation to comply with applicable environmental legislation and continuously strengthen our environmental performance to meet our organisational responsibilities.
Obligations:
Environmental awareness and education
We want to promote environmental awareness at Hindsgavl Castle among our employees and guests through continuous information and education. The goal is to incorporate environmental awareness into the company culture so that everyone is informed and engaged in our environmental initiatives. This is reflected, among other things, in the hiring of our ESG project managers and the holding of an information meeting on the environmental management system for all employees at the end of January 2024.
Energy and resource consumption
We strive to measure and reduce Hindsgavl Castle’s energy and water consumption through various measures. In addition, we want to promote circularity by reducing waste, including food waste, and promoting reuse and recycling where opportunities are identified. To reduce our footprint, we first made an effort to measure the current situation, which is why we are partnering with companies that can help with climate accounting and measuring food waste.
On our website you can read more about how we work to reduce food waste.
See how we work with circularity in our buildings and inventory.

Policies
Hindsgavl Castle will regularly assess our purchasing practices and waste management to ensure that these are up to date and to be able to focus on continuous improvement of our efforts in the various areas. In the spring of 2024, the first version of our Purchasing Policy and Waste Policy was created, both of which can be found on our website here:
Environmental performance evaluation
At Hindsgavl Castle, we work in a structured way with sustainability and evaluation of our efforts. Therefore, we have established an environmental group across the management team that is responsible for setting environmental goals and evaluating them. When setting environmental goals, we place great emphasis on employee involvement, which is why we have organised workshops for employees to generate ideas for environmental goals and created an online idea box where employees can continuously submit their ideas.
These ideas will be evaluated during the environmental meetings, and the relevant ones will subsequently be implemented.
Corporate social responsibility
Hindsgavl Castle recognises and supports the local community as much as possible, which is reflected in the choice of local suppliers and participation in various environmental events, such as ‘Klimafolkemødet’ (climate summit) in summer 2023.
Further information about our corporate social responsibility can be found in our sustainability document, which is available on our website here: Responsibility
Responsibility
Hindsgavl Castle’s management is responsible for maintaining and supporting our environmental policy and overall environmental performance. All employees must be aware of, understand, and comply with the environmental policy. In addition, both management and employees must contribute to the success of the environmental policy through their actions and decisions.
