When can I check in to my room?
Monday to Sunday: 14.00 at the earliest.
If you wish to check in to your room earlier, you are more than welcome to contact us. We will do our utmost to meet your request. Please note that there may be a charge for early check-in.
When do I need to check out of my room?
Monday-Saturday: 10.00 at the latest
Sundays and Public Holidays: 11.00 at the latest.
If you wish to check out of your room later, you are more than welcome to contact us. We will do our utmost to meet your request. Please note that there may be a charge for late check-out.
When is the reception desk open?
The reception desk is open 24 hours a day.
Restaurant and catering services
Read here about breakfast, table reservations and restaurant hours of opening, as well as opportunities to meet special dietary requirements.
When is breakfast served?
You can enjoy your breakfast from 07:00-10:00 every day of the week.
If you need to leave earlier, we offer a breakfast to-go service. Order breakfast to-go at the reception desk on the previous day (before 20:00).
If you wish to enjoy a quiet start to the day at weekends, we recommend that you eat breakfast from 08:00-09:00 or earlier.
You can also have breakfast brought to your room. Room service charge: DKK 75. Order a room-service breakfast at the reception desk on the previous day (before 20:00).
When is the café open?
The Castle Café is open
Lunch: Monday - Saturday 12:00-16:00*
Dinner: Monday - Saturday 18.00-21:30* (For overnight guests only)
*with exception of some Public Holidays. For more information please contact the reception.
My package includes dinner – should I book a table in the restaurant?
No. When your package includes dinner, we reserve a table for you in the restaurant. However, you are welcome to let us know at what time you would like to have your dinner.
I have only booked an overnight stay – should I book a table in the restaurant?
If your reservation does not include dinner, we recommend that you book a table in advance. The Castle Café only accommodates a limited number of guests.

Can I order room service?
Yes. You can order room service during the restaurant’s hours of opening. Ask for a room service menu at the reception desk. To order room service, call 544 directly from the phone in your room. Room service charge: DKK 75.
I have special dietary requirements. Can you help?
We cater for certain special dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, certain allergies and diabetes.
Contact us in advance to inform of your requirements so that the chef has an opportunity to adapt the menu.
Our facilities
In the following, we provide an overview of Hindsgavl Slot's facilities, including e.g. charging stations and accessibility.
Do you have an elevator?
There are no elevators in the castle itself. There is an elevator in our converted barns. If you are unsteady on your feet, we recommend that you stay in our converted barns.
Is the hotel accessible for the disabled?
Yes and no. There is an elevator in our splendid, converted barns, Kostalden (Cattle Barn), Svinestalden (Pig Barn) and Slotsladen (Castle Barn). These buildings have easy access for the disabled whether you use a walking aid, or a manual or powered wheelchair.
The castle and main building are not suitable for wheelchair users, as there are steps up to all the entrances. The same applies to the door leading to the reception desk. You can easily get around the castle with a walking aid.
Do you have handicap-friendly hotel rooms?
Yes, we do. Please contact the reception desk to reserve a handicap-friendly room. Send an email to: hindsgavl@hindsgavl.dk
Is there Wi-Fi at the hotel?
Yes. Guests are welcome to use the hotel’s guest Wi-Fi free of charge. No access code is required.
Do you have a fitness centre?
There is no fitness centre at the hotel. There are many jogging routes just outside. Ask at the reception desk.
Do you have a spa?
No, we do not have a spa. However, we do have Funen’s – possibly even Denmark’s – finest view from our bathing pier. Hans Christian Andersen described it as such after a visit here in 1843.
The bathing pier lies at the perimeter of the castle park. You can hire a bathing robe and slippers at the reception desk. Hire a set (bathing robe and slippers): DKK 60.
Car park and charging stations
Can I charge my electric vehicle at Hindsgavl slot?
We have four EV charging stations. If you have a charging cable of your own, you can recharge using the OK Smartphone App. Download the app from Google Play or Apple App Store. You can monitor SOC (state of charge) via the app. The app shows clearly when your battery is fully charged so you can move your vehicle to make room for someone else’s.
Is there free parking at Hindsgavl Slot?
When you visit Hindsgavl Slot, you can park free of charge in car parks close to the castle (200 parking spaces).
Gift vouchers
This section provides information about gift vouchers, how to buy, how to redeem, validity, etc.
Where can I buy a gift voucher?
You order and pay for a Hindsgavl Slot gift voucher online. You can purchase a gift voucher valid for a specific amount or for a specific package.
You can print the gift voucher at home, or you can opt to have it packaged and sent by post.
Can I redeem my gift voucher online?
No. It is not currently possible to redeem your gift voucher directly in our online booking system. Contact the reception desk to book using a gift voucher. Email: hindsgavl@hindsgavl.dk
For how long is my gift voucher valid?
A gift voucher issued by Hindsgavl Slot is valid as follows:
- Gift voucher for a specific amount: Valid for a period of 36 months from date of issue
- Gift voucher for a package, etc. Valid for a period of 12 months from date of issue
My gift voucher has expired. Can I extend its period of validity?

Booking confirmation, payment methods and cancellation
This section covers questions frequently asked about discounts, business travel agreements, cancellation and payment methods.
I have not received confirmation of my booking – what should I do?

Do you accept credit cards?
We accept payment with Dankort, Visa, MasterCard, Eurocard and American Express.
When do I pay for my booking?
All reservations are payable when booking. In case of cancellation prior to the cancellation deadline, the paid amount will be refunded directly to the buyer's account.
How do I cancel my booking?
Check your booking confirmation for the terms and conditions for cancelling your reservation.
It is possible to cancel individual room reservations until 16:00 on the day before arrival.
Other conditions apply to cancellation of group bookings (more than 10 rooms). Read group booking cancellation conditions here.
If you booked your room online, you can follow the link in your booking confirmation to cancel. The amount paid will automatically be refunded to the payment card used when you made the reservation.
I have a discount code on a package – where do I type the code?
If you have received a discount code in our newsletter, you can click on the link in the newsletter itself. The code will automatically be entered. You will be guided directly to our online booking service. The code can only be used online.
Do I get a discount if I book several rooms at the same time?
All our packaged products include a package discount. We give no further discounts, except in connection with specific marketing and sales campaigns.

How do I book online with a business travel agreement?
Just write your company’s business travel agreement code in the “I have a code” field. The discount will be deducted automatically. Find the code on your company’s intranet or contact the colleague responsible for business travel agreements.
Hotel rooms

How big are the rooms?
We have rooms of all sizes. Click the link. The room category description includes the size and location of each room hindsgavl.dk/en/rooms/
Is it possible to book a specific room?
Yes. There is a surcharge for booking a specific room: DKK 150 (per booking). If you wish to avoid paying the surcharge, you can request a specific room number. However, we cannot guarantee that the room will be available.
How many different room categories do you have?
Hindsgavl Slot has more than 120 rooms. The interiors of most of the rooms are in an elegant “castle style” whereas the décor in the remaining rooms (in the Cattle, Pig and Castle Barns) is simpler and more modern. No matter which style you choose, you will find that the décor pays homage to the history of the castle. Check out all the different room categories here: hindsgavl.dk/en/rooms/
Do you have family rooms?
Yes, we do. The following room categories accommodate more than two guests:
Superior Room in the Barns – max. 4 people
Junior Suite, “Castle style” – max. 3 people
Junior Suite, Pig Barn – max. 4 people

NB: an extra bed is usually a camp bed/roll-away bed suitable for children up to 15 years of age.
Do the rooms have a bathtub?
No. All our rooms have showers. There is a bathtub in all of our Junior Suites (except one). Most of the bathtubs have a jacuzzi function.
Does my room have bathroom and toilet en suite?
Yes. Every room has bathroom and toilet en suite.
Is it possible to get an extra pillow brought to my room?
In every room, there is an extra pillow in the wardrobe. If you need a further extra pillow during your stay, please contact the reception desk. We also supply allergy-friendly quilts and pillows on request.
Do you have allergy-friendly rooms?
All the rooms in the Cattle Barn are allergy friendly. If you wish to book an allergy-friendly room, please note this on your reservation when you book online.
If you need allergy-friendly quilts and pillows, we can make sure these are available. Please contact the reception desk in advance or make a note of this when you book online.
Do you have allergy-friendly quilts and pillows?
Yes, we do. When you book online, please write a comment in the notes field. We will make sure that allergy-friendly bedding is available to you on arrival.
Are the rooms carpeted?
All our castle-style rooms have wall-to-wall carpets, except for two of our Junior Suites.
If you prefer a room without carpets, we recommend the rooms in the Barns. They have tiled flooring with underfloor heating. Alternatively we recommend the rooms in the Tenant’s House, which has wooden floors.
Can I stream via the TV in my room?
The TV in every room has an integral Chromecast. You can therefore stream from your device directly to the TV in your room. NB: Remember to connect to the hotel’s guest Wi-Fi.
May I bring my dog?
Dogs are very welcome to stay at Hindsgavl Slot. We have a few rooms in the Barns at disposal for guests with dogs.
Dogs are not allowed in indoor areas where food is served, which means dogs are not allowed in our restaurants, bar and main building. You must keep your dog on a leash at all times at the hotel (indoors and out).
Charge per day per dog: DKK 250. Contact the reception desk to book a dog-friendly room..
You are also welcome to bring along your dog to the Blacksmith’s House that faces Hindsgavl Deer Park. Guests staying at the Blacksmith's House have an enclosed garden with a terrace. You can book the Blacksmith’s House online.
Do you offer a laundry service?
We offer a laundry and dry-cleaning service.
There is a bag in your room, and a laundry list for you to complete.
Please deliver the bag containing clothes and the completed laundry list to the reception desk by 09:00.
You can collect your laundry after 24 hours and dry cleaning after 48 hours. Collect from the reception desk.
Miscellaneous
Are children welcome at the hotel?
Children are very welcome. Many of our rooms can accommodate extra beds.
Children aged 3-12 years stay at the hotel at half the adult price (dinner included).
Are there activities for children at the hotel?
You can loan a variety of games at the hotel. In the summer months, it is possible to play lawn games outdoors in the castle park.
For imaginative souls, the castle park itself is perfect for all sorts of games. The sky is the limit!
Naturcenter Hindsgavl is near to the hotel. The nature centre has an excellent natural playground.
